Terms of Service

Last updated 2 November 2026

1. The agreement

Stow is made and operated by Aeroswipe LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company (“we”, “us”, “our” in this document). By downloading or using Stow you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use it.

2. Licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Stow on Macs that you own or control, for as long as your subscription is active. A paid subscription may be active on up to three Macs at a time; you can release one and activate another, and the app will tell you when you have reached the limit. You may not resell, sublicense, rent, or share your licence or account credentials.

3. Plans, organises and credits

  • An organise is one folder planned, up to 100 files. It is counted when you ask for the plan, whether or not you then apply it, so that Stow can show you the folder and what is in it before you spend one. However many steps planning a folder takes internally, it counts once.
  • The free tier includes 3 organises in total, once per device.
  • Pro includes 200 organises per billing month, counted from the day your subscription renews rather than from the first of the month. Unused organises do not roll over.
  • Top-up credits (10 organises for $1) do not expire and are consumed only after the monthly allowance is exhausted.

4. Fair use and anti-abuse

We may apply rate limits, and may suspend accounts that attempt to evade usage limits, for example by automating the app, creating multiple accounts to repeat the free trial, or sharing one subscription across unrelated machines. We will contact you before suspending a paid account except where abuse is severe or automated.

5. Billing and cancellation

Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You may cancel at any time; access continues to the end of the paid period. Prices may change, and we will give at least 30 days' notice by email before a change affects your renewal.

6. Your files, your backups, and data loss

This is the most important section in this document. Please read it.

Stow moves and renames files on your computer. It does not delete them, it shows you every proposed move before anything happens, and it records each applied plan so it can be undone. Those safeguards are real, and they are not a guarantee.

You are responsible for maintaining your own backups. You should have a current, tested backup, Time Machine or equivalent, before you organise any folder whose contents matter to you. If you do not have a backup, do not use Stow on files you cannot afford to lose.

Things outside our control can interrupt or corrupt a file operation. These include, without limitation:

  • loss of power, a forced restart, a crash, or the app being quit mid-operation;
  • running out of disk space during a move;
  • file permission errors, locked files, or files held open by another application;
  • folders synchronised by iCloud Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive or similar, where the sync client may move, duplicate, version, or conflict with files at the same time;
  • network volumes or external drives disconnecting mid-operation;
  • filename collisions, case-sensitivity differences, path-length limits, and filesystem quirks;
  • other software, scripts, or people changing the same files while a plan is being prepared or applied;
  • defects in Stow itself, in macOS, or in the hardware it runs on.

Undo is best-effort and is not a backup. It can return files to their previous locations only while those files still exist and have not since been renamed, moved, deleted, or altered by you or by any other program. The undo record is stored on your own computer and can be lost if you delete it or the folder containing it.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss, corruption, deletion, disclosure, misplacement, or unrecoverability of your files or data, however caused, whether or not we were advised of the possibility, and whether the claim is in contract, tort (including negligence), statute, or otherwise.

7. Plans are produced by an automated system

Stow’s plans are generated by an artificial-intelligence language model. Such systems are probabilistic. They can and do misread what a file is about, group unrelated things together, separate related things, invent folder names you would not have chosen, and produce different results for the same folder on different runs.

A plan is a suggestion for you to review, not a professional judgement and not advice of any kind. You are the one who decides whether to apply it, and you accept responsibility for that decision. Do not rely on Stow to classify files where misfiling would have legal, financial, medical, safety, or regulatory consequences.

We make no representation that output is accurate, complete, appropriate, or fit for any particular purpose.

8. Availability

Preparing a plan requires an internet connection and our service to be reachable. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability, and we may suspend the service for maintenance, for capacity reasons, or because an upstream provider is unavailable. Applying and undoing a plan you already have work without us. We are not liable for any consequence of the service being unavailable.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Stow and the service are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express, implied, or statutory. We specifically disclaim the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, and quiet enjoyment, and any warranties arising from course of dealing or usage of trade.

We do not warrant that Stow will meet your requirements, that its output will be correct or suit your preferences, that it will operate without interruption or error, that defects will be corrected, or that it is free of harmful components. No advice or information, oral or written, obtained from us or through the service creates any warranty not expressly stated here.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:

  • We will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, files, profits, revenue, goodwill, business, or anticipated savings, or for the cost of substitute goods or services, arising out of or relating to Stow or these terms, on any theory of liability, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
  • Our total aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or relating to Stow or these terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you actually paid us in the twelve months immediately before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) fifty United States dollars (US$50).
  • These limits apply even if a limited remedy is found to have failed of its essential purpose, and they survive termination of these terms.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or liabilities. Where that is the case, the exclusions and limits above apply only to the extent permitted, and nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

11. Your statutory rights

If you are a consumer, you may have rights under the law of your country that cannot be excluded by agreement, for example under the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015, the consumer law of an EU or EEA member state, or the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms affects those rights, and where a term here conflicts with them, those rights prevail.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, demand, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) brought by a third party and arising out of your use of Stow, your breach of these terms, or your violation of any law or of the rights of another, including any claim relating to files you organised that you were not entitled to access or modify.

13. Acceptable use

You agree not to: use Stow on files you are not authorised to access or modify; reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the software except to the extent that restriction is unenforceable by law; resell, sublicense, or provide Stow as a service to others; attempt to circumvent the free allowance, device limits, or rate limits; or use the service to process content that is unlawful. We may suspend or terminate access for any of these.

14. Termination

You may stop using Stow at any time. We may terminate or suspend your licence for breach of these terms, and may discontinue the service as a whole on reasonable notice. On termination your right to use the software ends; files already organised on your computer are unaffected, and sections 6, 9, 10, 12 and 15 survive.

15. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. You and we agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state courts located in Sheridan County, Wyoming and the United States District Court for the District of Wyoming, and each waive any objection to those venues. If you are a consumer resident in the UK, EU or EEA, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory law of your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings there.

16. General

These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Refund Policy, are the entire agreement between us about Stow. If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest remains in force and the unenforceable part is limited to the minimum extent necessary. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. Neither party is liable for failure to perform caused by events beyond its reasonable control.

17. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be notified by email before taking effect, and continuing to use Stow after that date means you accept them.
