Teen
& Adult Classes

Ages
13 and up

Overview:
Learning martial arts skills is fun and challenging for teens and adults. The classes provide good exercise and the karate Techniques and forms are fun yet challenging to learn and practice. The skills learned are real self- defense skills, but the benefits of karate study extend beyond the realm of self-defense and fighting techniques. Teens find that the benefits of karate study far transcend learning to punch, block & kick. The skills of focus, concentration and self- discipline developed in learning karate techniques will improve school, sports and work performance for all the student's life. The improvements in self- confidence and self-image will help resist negative peer pressure to get involved in illicit activities and provide self-assurance to meet the challenges of the adult world. The traits of helpfulness, consideration and modesty developed in karate training will foster a welcome high level of civility. Skills learned in meditation and stilling the body for karate will provide counter point to the go-go world of pop music, MTV, movies, video games and television. Taking karate classes with adults where all ages are treated equally is exciting for teens, it gives them an entrée into the adult world not usually available to them.

Adults also receive benefits far beyond developing self-defense skills. There are measurable work skills benefit from the improved focus and concentration skills learned in karate study. Improved self-image and self-confidence are of great benefit in any situation dealing with people. The stress relief benefits of karate study are of great benefit in today's overfast and overloaded society. Special bonds are created between karate students, the friendships developed in karate classes can last forever. Karate can be practiced with friends for years, it is not uncommon for people in their 80's to still be working out on a regular basis.
