Our aim is to work with our students helping them
become outstanding Uechi-Ryu Karate-Do
Black Belts
and realize the full
benefit of
Martial Arts training
Stow
martial Arts Center is owned and operated by Sensei Patricia Saunders, a
sandan black belt in Uechi-Ryi Karate.

“Karate has changed my attitude, confidence, level of focus, and
concentration”
Sensei Saunders is a Black Belt instructor certified by International Uechi-Ryu Karate Federation (IUKF) and the American Council on the Martial
Arts (ACMA). She has been teaching karate classes since 1998 and is also a
NAPMA certified cardio karate instructor.
Prior to the Stow Martial Arts Center was assistant instructor
in Sensei Steve DiOrio's Westwood Program.
Sensei Saunders has studied Uechi-Ryu karate with a variety of teachers
including George Mattson who is currently the highest ranking Uechi-Ryu
black belt (9th degree) in the united states and the man who first
introduced Uechi-Ryu to the United States. In addition to Uechi-Ryu, she has
studied other forms of martial arts including Tae Kwon Do and is trained as
a RAD instructor. Sensei Saunders trained as a scholarship gymnast while in
college which has helped provide a foundation for her later training in
karate.
In addition to teaching karate classes, Sensei Saunders is a trained
competition official and has judged a variety of tournaments including the
New England Open, the Montessori Open, the New England Junior Open, the Mass
Challenge, and many others. Before her judging activities Sensei Saunders
had a very successful career competing herself. She took home the first
place trophy for Kyu Kumite in the New England Open two years running as
well as securing a trophy for Kata competition. |
